Get Wild in the Adirondacks

new york adirondack adventure

The Wild Center is one of our favorite stops in the Adirondacks!

The Wild Center, formerly known as the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks, is a natural history center in Tupper Lake, New York, near the center of New York State’s Adirondack Park.

Live animals, hands-on exhibits & forest trails connect guests with the Adirondacks. The Wild Center is home to more than 900 live Adirondack animals – including otters, porcupines, owls, snakes and fresh-water fish.  The mission of The Wild Center is to ignite an enduring passion for the Adirondacks where people and nature can thrive together and offer an example for the world.

Outside The Wild Center there are forests, a winding river, our own trout-filled pond, and trail walks both brief and long.

Getting off the ground and into the treetops

In his review in The New York Times, then architecture critic Nicolai Ouroussoff described the effect this way. “… as mesmerizing as the design is, it is the height of the High Line that makes it so magical, and that has such a profound effect on how you view the city. Lifted just three stories above the ground, you are suddenly able to perceive, with remarkable clarity, aspects of the city’s character you would never glean from an office….The High Line is the only place in New York where you can have this experience — one that is as singular in its way as standing on the observation deck of the Empire State Building.”

Your experience at The Wild Center will help you see with new eyes all the beauty you will see on the quiet paved roads during your bike vacation with Great Bike Tours
