Great "Rhode" Bike Rides

Starting in Providence, we head south on a 15-mile paved bike path on our way to exploring the many bike-friendly islands in the Narragansett Bay. We promise you breathtaking rides along the shore, where the road curves and bends around headlands, with ever-changing views of picturesque coves, crashing waves, lighthouses, and waterfront estates clinging to rocky outcroppings.

At other times we’ll be riding on quiet back roads through rolling farmland, meadows, wildlife refuges, and seaside towns – all framed by the sparkling waters of the Narragansett Bay.

Great Boat Trips

Even though it’s the smallest state in the country (only 37 miles wide), Rhode Island boasts over 400 miles of shoreline to explore, thanks to the Narragansett Bay – New England’s largest estuary. Rather than thinking of the water as a barrier (to our cycling), we relish the opportunity to venture out on the protected waterways that are a treasured part of everyday life here. During the week we’ll take several boat excursions – via sailboat, rum runner, and ferry – to explore the Bay and its 30 islands and 29 lighthouses.

Ride the Rails on a Rail-Bike

Besides biking and boating, we will also explore the scenic beauty of Rhode Island in a totally new and exciting way, aboard a fleet of pedal-powered rail-bikes. Utilizing a six-mile stretch of historic track not used by trains (thankfully), our excursion will “ride the rails” along Aquidneck Island with spectacular views of the water.
