Interesting neighbors in Central Vermont:
Gifford Woods State Park is very popular during fall foliage season for its dramatic autumn colors. Hiking trails throughout the park provide views of old-growth hardwood trees and an understory rich with native wildflowers.
Green Mountain National Golf Course is “Carved out of the majestic Green Mountains, our course offers solitude and a “private” golf experience that will challenge players of all abilities. Although located in the mountains, you needing’t be a Sherpa to play Green Mountain National. Gently sloping fairways that feature generous landing areas, distinctive changes in elevation and undulating greens provide natural beauty. View the centuries old rock formations carved by the glaciers, and be sure to take a moment on the 16th tee, as you enjoy the panoramic views in a spectacular setting.”
If you are looking for a more “level” playing field check out White River Golf Club – Kid friendly so great for family outings, very informal and Pete, the owner is very nice!
Pico Mountain, beautiful in any season, but is best known for skiing. “Experience Big Mountain Skiing and small mountain charm.” At more than one mile long, Pike, Pico’s longest trail, begins at the summit and ends at the base lodge. There are 468 acres of skiable terrain and close to 20 miles of trails. Bring your mountain bike out and explore over 30 miles bike trails in the summer or explore 12 miles of designated resort hiking trails in addition to the Appalachian and Long Trails, Killington offers a variety of day hikes suitable for many ability levels.
You are guaranteed to enjoy your visit to Central Vermont in any season. There is something for everyone to do here! Bring the family or come alone, we will leave the light on for you!
