Fall is upon us and the leaves will put on their annual show of color in celebration! Quechee Gorge is one of the best stops to see a spectacular variety of fall colors.
Located in Quechee, Vermont along U.S. Route 4. It is a popular tourist attraction located within the boarders of Quechee State Park and can be viewed from the U.S. Route 4 bridge and from trails on both sides of the gorge.
The gorge is 165 feet deep and is the deepest gorge in Vermont. You can hike round trip to the bottom of the gorge in approximately 1 hour from the bridge and about 1.5 hours from the Visitor’s Center. At the bottom you can get a close up view of the Ottauquechee River. There is a lot of history you can learn about as this was the location of a major wool processor in the 19th century.
This is a fantastic stop visited by many tourists that just stop to take in the breathtaking views. It is one of our favorite stops on our “Central Vermont – Heart of New England Tour” held in September and October annually you can enjoy this fabulous location ( and others). Vermont is known for its gorgeous fall colors, and there is no better way to take in the scenery than from the seat of your bike.
